Inspection pricing is simpler than it looks
One of the first questions importers ask is: how much does third-party inspection in China cost? The honest answer: it depends on a few clear factors. Understanding them helps you budget accurately.
1. Inspection type
Pre-shipment inspection, DUPRO, initial production check, container loading supervision and factory audits are priced differently because they involve different work and report types.
2. Man-days and sample volume
Most inspections are quoted per man-day. A standard single-day inspection at one factory covers a defined number of products and samples; larger or multi-factory orders need more time.
3. Location and travel
Travel costs depend on where the factory is. Inspectors based in major manufacturing hubs (Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu) reduce travel time and cost for most suppliers.
4. AQL level and test requirements
Tighter AQL means more samples, more time and higher cost. On-site testing with special equipment may add charges.
5. Re-inspection
If a batch fails and the factory reworks, the follow-up inspection is normally charged as a new inspection.
